Carol Lundeen -
A Minnesota Girl
Carol Lundeen grew up in Paynesville, MN where she first realized her love for art. Being a preachers kid, she spent alot of time drawing the backs of people's heads during her father's sermons and creating her own comic books. After high school, she went on to get her B.A. in Art at Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID. Returning to Minnesota, Carol spent 6 years in the advertising business and decided the cut throat atmosphere was not for her. She went completely away from her art and enjoyed several years as a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist in the Minneapolis area before meeting and marrying her husband, Steve, who then took her to the rural area of Dassel, MN where Carol and her family now reside. The birth of their daughter, Sara, was the spark that put Carol back on her art journey as she began producing pen and ink stipple drawings of babies which she sold nationally to anyone in the baby/parent world. After 9 years, however, the strain of drawing dots forced Carol to move into a different medium that wasn't as taxing on her eyes. Remembering how she appreciated oil painting in high school, Carol decided to turn her abilities to landscape painting.
Wanting to find someone willing to teach Carol the "ropes" about landscape painting, Carol found a wonderful mentor in Robert Hagberg....a nationally known landscape artist and signature member of Oil Painters of America. She continues to study under Robert who has completely changed her style to a more representational realist style. As her talent has progressed, Carol has been entering more shows and competitions nationally......earning herself some awards along the way. She hopes to continue on in this style for many years to come.
Still liking the black and white image, Carol has also developed a talent in scratchboard creating realistic wildlife images. She loves to photograph her subjects...going wherever she needs to to get good, detailed images for her work.

ARTIST STATEMENT: "I believe we are all put here on this earth for one purpose....to love and glorify God with our lives and given abilities. One of my God-given talents is in art. I want to learn continually how to best represent what I see and feel when I look at a landscape or a wild animal......both of which are created by God. I hope that God is honored by my efforts and that others viewing my work are blessed by them. One day I hope to hear my Savior say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." -Carol Lundeen
